Celebes Rainbow
Fish code No.2509
The Celebes Rainbow is an attractive little fish for suitable community aquariums. The fish sports extended fins, notably on males, which give it an unusual movement and appearance in the aquarium. Celebes rainbows should be kept in groups in aquariums with planted areas and some surface cover. Whilst their natural waters are not overly hard, like many rainbowfish they will adapt and do well in hard water. Changing from hard to soft water can be more difficult and should be done over a longer period. The fish can be sensitive to other water perameters so good water quality is essential. Some sources suggest adding salt to the aquarium for these fish. Although this is not a requirement, it does indicate the Celebes can be kept in mildly brackish water.
Allowing morning and evening light to reach the aquarium can improve health and encourage spawning activity.
