The Keyhole Cichlid is a well known and popular fish which makes a good aquarium specimen. The fish are peaceful and can be kept with other peaceful fishes and dwarf cichlids. Keyholes will form pairs and raise the young for a considerable length of time. Provide a substrate of sand or fine gravel, plenty of hiding spots and open swimming areas. Some specimens can be particularly timid and easily spooked, but should gain confidence once established.
