Salt and Pepper Catfish
Fish code No.0507
There are a few species of dwarf or pygmy Corydoras that are very similar in appearance, making exact identification difficult. The blotchy patterning does vary between individuals. C. habrosus is a delicate fish which may not be ideal for beginners and should be kept with the utmost care (the name 'habrosus' actually means soft or delicate). Health problems can arise after transport or through incorrect feeding. Tiny foods such as cyclops and daphnia are particularly recommended both as part of the diet and in order to maintain health after transport or other stress factors. Despite its delicate nature, C. habrosus is tolerant and adaptable to a wide range of water conditions although soft to medium water is preferred.

C. habrosus will often rest in motionless positions and this behaivor along with their small size can make them an easy target for other fish to pick on. Even some peaceful, yet mischievous, fish may not make ideal tankmates. Ideally, these fish are suited to communities of small, very peaceful, and/or delicate fish.
