Sucking Loach
Fish code No.2108
The Sucking Loach is when young, an excellent algae eater and is often sold for this purpose. In many cases the fishkeeper only realizes their mistake a year or so later when the fish becomes aggressive and territorial towards weaker tank mates. When young the fish are peaceful and can be kept together but as they age they will become increasingly aggressive towards each other and other fish. A single fish is best kept in an aquarium with medium to large robust fishes. The fish will damage delicate plants although some hardy varieties will be fine. The Sucking Loach is a robust, hardy, and adaptable fish, which will make a good addition to the aquarium only if it is kept with the right tank mates. Usually reaches 15cm but can potentially grow to 25cm.
