The common name of this plant comes from the fountain-like appearance of the narrow leaves which bend back and outwards. The plant looks best if a few are used together but well-spaced apart in the midground or edges of the aquarium. The plant is a particularly hardy variety and will do well in most conditions. A dwarf variety, Ophiopogon japonicum var. kyoto is available and will only grow to 10cm.
