The Brichardi is a common Synodontis and an attractive bottom dwelling, scavenging, catfish. The markings intensify and increase contrast with age. Although territorial, a group or a single specimen can be kept in a community of robust fishes. Very small tankmates should be avoided or they will become preyed upon at night. The Brichardi may eat some algae, which is an important part of its diet, so algae based food suppliments are a good addition. The aquarium should be well filtered and aerated, preferably with some areas of water movement, and a few good hiding spots.
