Bloodworm
Bloodworms, or red mosquito larvae, are small blood-red worm-like creatures usually around a centimetre long that are used as a popular fish food.
Bloodworms are high protein and contain pigments that can enhance the colours of some aquarium fish. The high protein content is particularly useful in conditioning fish for breeding, or during recovery. Bloodworms are available in many forms including live, frozen, and freeze-dried. Frozen foods usually offer the best value for money and are readily accepted by most fish.
Along with other frozen foods, bloodworm is a good addition to a varied diet, essential for the best health of all fishes. Because it is not a 'complete' food, it should be used in conjunction with a form of dried food, many of which are designed with extra vitamins and minerals as 'complete' foods.
